It is located in Sunway Resort City Kuala Lumpur, within close proximity to the 5-star Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, the award winning Sunway Pyramid shopping mall, Sunway Lagoon, one of Asia’s best theme parks with more than 80 attractions, as well as established educational institutions such as Monash University Malaysia and Sunway University.

As one of the leading private tertiary hospitals in the region, Sunway Medical Centre boasts 359 beds, 130 consultation suites with more than 190 registered specialists, 31 bedded critical care unit, 12 operation theatres and a multi-storey carpark with 700 parking bays.

For a Better Future

The hospital is also embarking on plans for expansion, with the construction of the new Centre for Advanced Medicine which would bring the total number of consultation suites to 200 and number of beds to 600, making Sunway Medical Centre one of the largest private hospitals in the region. The new Centre will consist of services and Centres of Excellence namely the Nuclear Medicine Centre, Cancer Centre, Breast Care Centre, Digestive Health Centre and Dialysis Centre.

Continuing with Sunway Healthcare’s plans in delivering care to more communities, it will be building two new hospitals in Sunway Velocity, KL and Seberang Jaya, Penang respectively with the target completion in 2017.

Extensive Range of Specialisations

Sunway Medical Centre offers a comprehensive range of medical services, which includes facilities and medical technologies for outpatient and in-patient speciality care, health & wellness programme, and 24-hour emergency services.

The hospital is further expanding the range of its services, introducing new Centres of Excellence such as the Urology Centre, Behavioural Health Centre and Fertility Centre. SunMed is also growing in areas of increasing sub-specialisation including paediatric orthopaedics, paediatric gastroenterology and paediatric cardiac surgery. The introduction of these new services have helped transform Sunway Medical Centre into one of the top private hospitals in Malaysia while enabling us to strive towards our vision of becoming one of the leading hospitals in ASEAN.

Internationally-Recognised Specialists

Doctors either practice in Specialist Consultation Suites located within the hospital or have ‘admitting rights’ to use all inpatient facilities, including diagnostic services and operating theatres.  Aside from the accident & emergency first response and primary care services which are manned by medical officers, all the doctors in the hospital are of Consultant Specialist level. Sunway Medical Centre requires that practising Specialists must have internationally-recognised postgraduate qualifications as well as a stipulated number of years’ of experience in their chosen speciality/sub-speciality discipline.

Retention of Malaysian Talents

Malaysia is one of Asia’s most recognised developing countries and has been identified to have an immense potential in its healthcare sector. It was recently named as one of the top destinations for medical tourism in the world. The Malaysian healthcare system is well-developed and is able to provide some of the most complicated treatments in the world at a relatively affordable cost. In addition, decades of economic growth have ensured that Malaysian hospitals like Sunway Medical Centre are able to expand and invest in facilities and technologies to support increasingly demanding and complex healthcare services.

Malaysia offers abundant opportunities for professionals in its mission to steer the nation’s drive for economic development. Graduates from abroad stand a chance to contribute to the development of this nation by sharing the expertise, skills and experience gained overseas.
