Dr. Amar-Singh is currently a senior consultant community paediatrician and head of the paediatric department at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh, Perak. He is also the head of the Clinical Research Centre Perak as well as the President of the National Early Childhood Intervention Council. Among his many important contributions to Malaysian healthcare is his role in assisting the Ministry of Health in introducing routine developmental screening for children. He has also established the first Paediatric and Neonatal Retrieval Service in Malaysia in 2000 as well as establishing more than 10 family support centres for disability.
Dr Amar-Singh also has a strong interest in academics and has more than 100 local and international research publications to his name. His research spans a wide spectrum of topics, including community interventional trials, disability, child abuse and disability just to name a few. Over the last 21 years, he has conducted multiple MRCPCH postgraduate paediatric training courses and is an MRCPCH examiner with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in the United Kingdom.
