Coming from various medical backgrounds, many medical students remain unfamiliar about the pathways which lie ahead of them, especially in the medical research field. Some medical students are interested in pursuing a career in medical research right after qualifying, whereas others are interested in getting involved in research while their undergraduate degrees. Therefore, this talk aims to provide participants with rare insight into the medical research field in Malaysia, focusing not only on the current initiatives to promote medical students to get involved in research, but also on the immense opportunities and career pathways which remain largely unexplored by Malaysian medical students.
Furthermore, the talk will also address up-and-coming medical research breakthroughs in Malaysia. Also, our speaker will be sharing personal experiences being involved in the research arena, including the challenges involved and a typical working day as a researcher. To ensure that medical students will be able to put everything into perspective, the contents of the talk will be tailored specifically for undergraduate medical students.
